Mexican driver Diego de la Torre enjoyed a strong start to the season this weekend in the opening round of the Euroformula Open Championship at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão. The Guadalajara-born driver delivered an impressive performance throughout the weekend, securing three podium finishes in the three races contested, along with a strong qualifying session that kept him fighting at the front from the very beginning. Thanks to these results, Diego ends the opening round sitting P2 in the championship standings, building strong momentum heading into the next rounds of the European season.

Diego de la Torre (Motopark) leads the charge ahead of the season-opener

Diego de la Torre ended the two days of non-mandatory testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya as the fastest on track. The young Mexican of Team Motopark beat by a few thousandths his best time of Friday, posting a lap time of 1:31.847 in the second session of Saturday. Reflecting on his performance, Diego said: "It was good to be able to do a lot of work over the winter. I have a sense that we improved in a lot of areas, and to have done a very good work with the engineers. It's very promising ahead of the season. Can't wait to be at Portimão and get started!"
